What Makes Motiva Implants Different
Motiva implants are new to the U.S. but have been used worldwide for over a decade before receiving FDA approval in 2024. Motiva implants are known for having one of the strongest safety profiles in the industry. Here is the advanced technology that sets these implants apart.
ProgressiveGel®
Motiva implants use two distinct gels depending on your desired outcome:
- ProgressiveGel PLUS: Maintains its shape consistently, providing reliable upper pole fullness in any position. It offers structure while still feeling soft and natural.
- ProgressiveGel ULTIMA: Adapts dynamically to your movements, meaning your breasts look rounder when you’re lying down and maintain a natural teardrop shape when standing, just like natural breast tissue.
No matter which type of gel is used, every Motiva implant is 100% filled, which helps prevent rippling and visible implant edges. The highly cohesive nature of ProgressiveGel maintains smooth contours even in patients with thinner skin or less natural breast tissue coverage.
SmoothSilk® Surface
The outer shell incorporates SmoothSilk technology, giving it a uniquely smooth yet nanotextured surface that is proven to enhance biocompatibility, lower inflammatory responses and reduce bacterial adhesion. Despite this nanotexture, Motiva implants are considered smooth and have not been linked to ANY cases of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a rare type of cancer caused by highly textured implants.
BluSeal®
Motiva’s proprietary BluSeal layer reveals any structural issues and helps your surgeon verify the integrity of your breast implants before they are placed in your body. It also helps to significantly reduce gel bleed, the “sweating” of silicone through an intact shell. Less gel bleed means a lower risk of capsular contracture, which is less than 1% across all Motiva implants.
TrueMonobloc®
Most breast implants look, feel and behave like they’re made of separate parts because they are: an outer shell, a seal and an internal filling. Motiva implants are made with a TrueMonobloc technology, which unifies all components for a cohesive structure, keeping them softer and more flexible. This unified, cohesive structure also means they’re more compressible and can be inserted through smaller incisions during surgery.
Educational Deep Dive
Smooth implants are defined as having less than 10 microns of texturization, which includes Motiva implants at 4 microns. Macrotextured implants, the kind associated with BIA-ALCL, have 50+ microns of texture. For reference, the width of a human hair is about 70 microns, and anything under 40 microns requires magnification to be seen!
