How Does Liposuction Work?
Are you tired of stubborn areas of fat around your body that simply won’t seem to budge? It doesn’t matter how much you exercise, you just can’t seem to get rid of these fatty deposits!
You’re not alone; a lot of people struggle with this. In areas such as the stomach, thighs, and hips, stubborn pockets of fat can develop. However, liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that can get rid of this unwanted body fat so that you can feel more confident in your appearance.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION?
Before we look at the procedure in further detail, it is important to understand whether you are a good candidate.
Miami Plastic Surgeon Dr. Alex Earle states “A good candidate for liposuction is an adult who is within 30 percent of their ideal weight. You should have good muscle tone and firm skin.”
Liposuction is not for those who want to lose a considerable amount of weight. Instead, it is about smoother the figure and dealing with those last bits of fat that are hard to remove.
The procedure is carried out under general anesthetic at Pure Plastic Surgery Miami. Your surgeon will start by marking your body on the area whereby fat is going to be removed.
Anaesthetic is then injected into this area to reduce swelling, bruising, and blood loss. High-frequency vibrations are then used to break up the fat cells.
After this, the surgeon will make a small incision and a suction tube will be inserted. This suction tube is attached to a vacuum machine, and the surgeon will move the tube backward and forward so that the fat is loosened and sucked out.
The surgeon will then drain any excess blood and fluid. The treated area will be stitched up and bandaged. This can take anywhere from one to three hours.
The recovery process is important when it comes to liposuction, and it is imperative that you follow the instructions that Dr. Earle has provided.
You will need to wear an elastic bandage or compression garment around the treatment area to lower the swelling and contour your body to its new shape.
Soreness and pain are to be expected in the immediate aftermath, but this should reduce within a week or two. A lot of people take a fortnight off work to recover.
In terms of the results from your procedure, it is unlikely that you will see the results you want straight after the treatment. Swelling and fluid retention can make you feel bloated. However, you will start to notice the results once the swelling goes down and as much as four liters can be removed during the procedure.
BENEFITS OF LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is desirable because it can contour your body, ensuring you are able to achieve the shape you have always desired. The effects of the treatment are long-lasting as well. However, you will need to maintain a healthy weight for this to be the case.
